gaggianeseA few kilometers from Milan, along the Big Naviglio, stands the majestic baroque facade of the parish church of St. Invenzio in Gaggiano: leave from here, coming provided by bike or car, and discover the unspoiled views of the Gaggiano area.

The parish is the starting point, with its collected square along the waterway on which is reflected; after visiting the seventeenth-century church, probably by Francesco Maria Richini, cross the bridge opposite the facade of the building and you will find  Venini Uboldi Palace of the neoclassical period. Going on across the bridge, in Garibaldi street, go out from the historical center, continue along the SP 38 and reach Nibbio Farm. There you will find a crossroads: turn left to reach through the SP 203, the hamlet of Barate. In the center of the small village you will be impressed by the richness of the chapel interior, completely frescoed in 900, which contains rich side altars and a massive baroque altar adorned with large silver reliquary busts.

Return to Nibbio Farm, continue along the SP 38 and you will arrive in Vigano Certosino. Even here, pleasant surprises are waiting for you: the village was in fact created around a famous Carthusian monastery, dependent on the famous Pavia Chartreuse of  which remain some buildings with frescoes on the facade, brickwork windows, and old brick buildings; but the real jewel is the back- church of Ss Mary and Eugene, of the fifteenth century, with decorations in terracotta and important frescoes of the facade now carried inside, where you will also find other decorations of the sixteenth-seventeenth centur.

Here, among pleasant green areas and small streams, you can stop; to return to Gaggiano you will have as point of reference the pillar of St. Bruno, founder of the Carthusian Order, which marks the crossing with the road leading to the church facade of  Gaggiano; if you still have time, many other farms, little churches and small villages dot the Gaggianese area, where there is still much to discover.
